Images from the international friendly match between Gibraltar and the Estonia at Victoria Stadium, Gibraltar on Wednesday 5th March 2014. The match came just three days after the local side were beaten 4-1 by Faroe Islands at the Victoria Stadium, amidst much critcism from local supporters. A packed Victoria Stadium saw a restructured Gibraltar defence, and the inclusion of key players such as Liam Walker play with a solid and resolute defensive game plan. The final score of 2-0 for Estonia reflected the continued attacking play of the visiting side, who throughout two thirds of the match forced Gibraltar back into its own half. Gibraltar, nevertheless showed that they were difficult to break defensively, holding on, and only letting the second goal in towards the end of the second half. Gibraltar forced Estonia back on numerous occassions with quick counter attacking play. The Estonia keeper was forced into makingseveral key saves to keep Estonia in the lead. Liam Walker was instrumental in keeping control of the midfield and forced Estonia back several times with his individual playmanship, dribble past several opponents on numerous occassions to start a counter attacks. This was also the last match of Danny Higginbotham, who bid farewells to fans and players from both sides when he was substituted towards the end of the second half.
