Spanish warship incursion into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters
Gibraltar - 29th April 2017 - The P78 Cazadora, from the Spanish navy’s Descubierta Class made a deliberate incursion into Gibraltar waters early in the morning of Saturday 29th April 2017. The Spanish warship entered Gibraltar waters just after 9am from the northern side of the Bay of Gibraltar.
As it entered British Gibraltar Territorial Waters it was met by a British Gibraltar Defence Police RHIB standing by within Gibraltar waters which was to follow it as it crossed through BGTW before entering Spanish waters once again as it navigated around oil tankers bunkering in the bay.
The Spanish watership then turned to head to the east side of the Rock cutting cross the path of two Royal Navy patrol boats monitoring its movements. As it crossed the bay to head towards the east side the Spanish warship was seen cutting across the navigational path of two commercial vessels, a small cargo vessel entering the bay and a Spanish ferry which routinely cut through Gibraltar waters on their way to the port of Algeciras.
